I feel like I say, “we are creatures of habits”, at least 3x a week.
I say, “it’s all in your head”, at least twice.
I know I say, “what you put out there is what you get back”, at least once a week.
What does that mean? Are you asking yourself if I have told you that during a session or two? As a personal trainer, I ask my clients, “What are your goals?” I hear:
So, let’s go back to “we are creatures of habit”- WE ARE CREATURES OF HABIT! The definition of a habit is :a behavior pattern acquired by frequent repetition or physiologic exposure that shows itself in regularity or increased facility of performance.
If you go to Starbuck’s each morning and order that Macchiato, it’s not Starbuck’s coffee making you fat or have extra calories, it’s the drive to Starbucks. “I was hungry and haven’t had my coffee.” So let’s take it back further. Why didn’t you eat breakfast at home? “I was in a rush.” Here’s a novel idea- go to bed earlier > wake up earlier! WHAT?!
Start with a food log. Look at what you’re eating. Then take the time to write in what you were doing where there are long periods of time in between food, type of food, etc. Next, try to change 1 habit at a time. Don’t move on to another bad habit until you have mastered the initial habit. THIS TAKES TIME. Accept it!
