Halloween is right around the corner and I must admit, I’m more excited this year than I have been the past few years. I’ve realized that sometimes your excuses to be a kid again are right in front of you. Take advantage of it. As we mature into an adult, our responsibilities and expectations are daily, if not hourly. At times, we forget about what it was like to be a child, not knowing what the future has in store for us. I bet you can think of your favorite costume as child. Did your mom make you a funny one? Was there a house you avoided because they gave out pennies?
Since I lived in my town home, I’ve dressed up almost each year to hand out candy. Our neighborhood is packed with children and I’m always excited to see their costumes. When I open the door, they like to guess who I am. Last year I was a football player. This year, I’m Raggedy Ann. Do you even think they will know who I am? Am I dating myself?
So have a little fun! Be a kid again! Even if you throw on some cat ears and tail, witches hat with a broom in the garage, or cowboy boots and a plaid shirt. I bet you will have a little more fun handing out candy- just being a kid again, forgetting about being an adult!
