The side plank is one of the most underrated exercises, especially next to its counterpart, the plank. Too often I see people dipping their backs when performing a regular plank. The side plank not only strengthens the back and glutes- two main elements of the core, but the move also allows the body to be in form where gravity isn’t pushing down on a large surface area, like the regular plank. I use this exercise quite frequently with my clients and Pilates classes.
-Begin with 2 sets of 15 seconds for each side
-Slowly build up to 1min by adding 15sec each time.
